Wallbox and Believ Unite to Power Scotland’s EV Future

0

Wallbox, a leading global provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with the UK-based charge point operator Believ to enhance the country’s EV charging infrastructure. This collaboration aims to roll out Wallbox’s advanced rapid and ultra-rapid charging solutions across the United Kingdom, with an initial focus on Scotland.

The partnership will introduce Wallbox’s comprehensive range of DC fast charging stations, including models with power outputs of 60kW, 120kW, 150kW, and 220kW. These high-capacity chargers are designed to cater to the increasing demand for rapid charging at strategic locations, such as major travel routes and popular retail destinations where drivers typically spend limited time.

Douglas Alfaro, Chief Fast Charging Officer at Wallbox, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “Partnering with Believ allows us to bring our high-performance charging technology to more drivers across the UK, ensuring they have access to fast, reliable charging where they need it most”. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the availability of high-power charging options throughout the UK.

The collaboration has already reached its first milestone with an installation in Scotland, marking the beginning of a nationwide rollout. This initial deployment is crucial as it sets the stage for further installations across various regions in the UK. Guy Bartlett, CEO of Believ, expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential impact: “Our goal is to deliver robust infrastructure that not only serves existing EV drivers but also encourages more to transition away from petrol and diesel vehicles”.

As Scotland embarks on this new chapter in electric vehicle infrastructure development through the Wallbox and Believ partnership, it sets a precedent for other regions in the UK. With an initial installation already completed and plans for further expansion underway, this collaboration is poised to play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition towards electrification in transportation.

The initiative not only addresses current demands but also supports long-term sustainability goals by facilitating a shift away from fossil fuels. As more drivers gain access to reliable and efficient charging options, the landscape of electric vehicle usage in Scotland—and beyond—will likely undergo significant transformation in the coming years.

The strategic placement of these charging stations is critical for encouraging EV adoption. The chargers will be located at convenient spots that cater to regular journeys and popular destinations such as restaurants and supermarkets. Bartlett noted that it is essential for charge point operators (CPOs) to provide a full range of charging speeds based on site needs and driver dwell times.

Believ operates with a strong commitment to sustainability, utilizing 100% renewable energy for its charging points. The company is backed by Liberty Global and Zouk Capital, which manages the HM Treasury-backed Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF). This financial support enables Believ to install and maintain publicly accessible charge points at no cost to local authorities or businesses.

This partnership represents a significant step in Wallbox’s expansion within the UK market and reinforces its position as a leading provider of EV charging solutions globally. The scalable nature of Wallbox’s technology allows for efficient network expansion as EV adoption continues to grow across the country.

Wallbox was founded in 2015 in Barcelona and has since established a presence in over 115 countries. The company’s mission extends beyond merely providing charging solutions; it aims to empower users by allowing them to manage their energy consumption effectively while promoting sustainable living practices.
